Quadcopter, motion capture system, OpenGL simulation, 3D print, flat screen television
I’m writing to share a project I’ve been putting together for the last
year. In short, its the captured flight path of an autonomous drone in
a motion capture lab as it follows, attacks and dances with me.
I think there are a lot of people interested in drones and autonomous
systems and I’ve tried to approach the medium with some subtlety and
poetry, which I feel is often overlooked in favor of a more heavy
handed and overtly military political read. Although, I still think
that conversation is embedded in the work.
It uses a system called OpenDroneControl which is going to be
publicity released soon for free. It was developed by Tim Wood and I
at the transLAB at UC Santa Barbara.
